Who Are We?
The Razorback
Martial Arts Club is a division of the World Youn Wha Ryu Association.
We train in martial arts to learn self-defense, acquire self-confidence, and to harness the full potential of our mids, bodies, and spirits.
The martial art system we practice is called Youn Wha Ryu. It is an advanced fighting style that adopts
the most efficient and effective techniques from
other martial arts including Taekwondo, Hapkido, Judo, Kung
Fu, Jujutsu and others. Because actual Youn Wha is such a
high-level system, it can only be taught to those who are already
skilled martial artists. Therefore, Grandmaster Han and his
instructors first teach new students
basic kicks and punches, most of which originated from Taekwondo. As
the students progress in rank, they learn more advanced kicks, fighting
forms, one-step fighting, sparring, basic techniques, take-downs,
weapons, throws, grappling, etc. Then, once they have reached black-belt, they
learn new combinations, forms, advanced self defense, internal martial arts, and
more.
If you'd like to learn more, we meet every Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:00 PM in HPER room 320.
If you're not a current member of the University of Arkansas but would
like to find a school
or learn more about this system, please visit Grandmaster Han's
offical website.
