The Arkansas Alpha Upsilon Chapter was founded on July 9, 1894, by George Bunting as the 77th Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. We have initiated over 2500 men in the last 106 years. We are deeply rooted in the ideals of Southern hospitality, gentlemanly behavior, and rich tradition. The men of Alpha-Upsilon strive to live up to the ideals of the True Gentleman, and are, and always have been, the best fraternity men on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Our current chapter house was completed in 1954 and resides at 110 Stadium Drive, Fayetteville, Arkansas, which is a short walk from both Razorback Stadium and Bud Walton Arena, two of hardest sports venues for opposing teams to visit in the country. Our previous chapter house was located on top of "The Hill", and was centrally located on the U of A's campus. A commemorative marker denotes the spot where our old chapter house was. You are welcome to stop by some time and embrace the experience of our deeply traditional Southern fraternity.
Our more prominent initiates include:
- Sid McMath, former Governor of Arkansas
- David Pryor, former United States Senator
- Mark Pyror, Attorney General of Arkansas
- Jay Dickey, United States Representative
- Mike Cherry, Quarterback for the New York Giants
- Stanley Reed, Trustee of the University of Arkansas
