About Dr. Baxter Dr. J. Sidlow Baxter is known worldwide through his prolific writing ministry. He wrote over 30 books that have sold by the hundreds of thousands. In 1951, he left his pastorate in Scotland to begin a teaching ministry in America. His last days were spent in Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Baxter went to be with the Lord late in December 1999. He was 96. Following his death, his library, including his desk, chair, and a book case he had made for himself were moved to Arkansas. They are now housed in the Treasure Room, Baxter Library's special collections room. The Treasure Room is open upon request. See the Library staff about visiting this collection.
