STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Undergraduate students. Supervised research projects focus on tectonics or volcanology. Field work in the Caribbean, including the active Soufriere Hills volcano, is possible.

Graduate students. Research opportunities include microplate tectonics in the northeastern Caribbean, geodynamics of the Lesser Antilles arc, strain-partitioning along obliquely convergent margins, sector collapse of volcanic edifices, and seismic hazard in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Techniques include GPS geodesy, remote sensing (multispectral, SAR, LIDAR), and field work. Some research assistantships are available (NSF and NASA funding).
