Probability of Selecting a Target Under Target + Related Instructions

Under the target + related instructions you could select a target for one of three reasons.

• If you retrieve the verbatim trace for the item and make an Identity Judgment you should select the item.  The probability of making an identity judgment is I.
• You could retrieve the gist trace and make a Similarity Judgment.  The probability of making a similarity judgment for a target is S_t
• You could respond based on your response bias.  The probability of responding due to response bias when given the Target+Related instructions is b_T+R
