This shot has always been suggestive to me of the instant of first light in the birth of a new star, of the moment when the thermonuclear engine has just now begun to illuminate the collapsing cloud of gas from which the star formed. Of course it is no such thing, not that you were fooled, but the clouds are quite terrestrial, the star our own steady stodgy middle-aged middle class sun.
