Vertical Displacement (v)
The vertical displacement (v) of a beam element, indicates the distance that each section of the element has moved from the non-loaded position, in a direction perpendicular to the beams centroidal axis. An FEM solution will only give us a value for the vertical displacement at each node and there is a Continuous variation in the vertical displacement through the element length (L), i.e., between the nodes.
