Hi. I am Chuan, from Malaysia.
I am currently doing my
master in Chemical Engineering. I came here in August 2002,
and will be done with my program, hopefully in May 2004. |
My
favorite food
(Nasi Lemak = coconut rice) |
|
The nasi lemak, that is rice cooked in
coconut milk and flavored with cloves and pandan leaves,
is an all time favor. It usually topped with Chili sambal
(hot and spicy gravy) and fried Ikan Bilis (anchovies),
sliced hard - boiled eggs, and cucumber. You can also
add in some peanuts if desire
A "must-try" food if you are
a foreigner. You will like it!!

| My hobby (Badminton) |
 |
Badminton is the national sports of Malaysia.
There are badminton courts in most of the school, even those
in the rural areas. Kids start to pick up this sport at the
very early stage.
I learned to play badminton when I was in my elementary school.
We have test on playing badminton, and thus all of us have to
practice hard to get a good grade. However, because we love
playing badminton, we did not feel stressful in taking the exam.
It is a very interesting sport.

| MALAYSIA
is a country of multi races. There are 3 main races: Malay
(50-60%), Chinese (25-30%), Indian (10%) and other minorities.
Thus, we have many varieties of food, festival and customs.
All races still preserve their own culture, though the interacting
of all different cultures do produce a new generation of culture:
Malaysian Culture.
|
In terms of festival,
we celebrate the Hari Raya (Ramadan), Chinese New
Year, Deepavali and Christmas with all races and religions." |
