Located in East Aisa, on the west shore of the Pacific Ocean, China, the most populous country and the third largest country in the world, is also one of the world’s most ancient civilizations. "Putonghua", or Mandarin is the official language of China. Taoism, Buddhism, Islamism, Protestantism and Catholicism have all developed quite a following in this multi-religious country. China is characterized by a continental climate. Temperatures differ therefore rather strikingly across the country.
