Colombia is rich in gold. This is a pre-Columbian artifact from the Tairona tribe

In Barranquilla, my hometown, we celebrate Carnivals. This is a four-day event in which people from all societal status get together around music and dance. There are street parades with floats and people dressed up in costumes. There is enjoyment everywhere!

My fovourite food is fish and there is a traditional dish from Barranquilla that I enjoy very much. Fried red snapper, coconut rice, patacón (plantain) and salad.

Hola amigos!!!!!
My name is José Ricardo. I am from Barranquilla, Colombia. I am a Doctoral student at the University of Arkansas. My field of study is college teaching in the area of foreign languages. I speak English, Portuguese, French and of course “español”.

I like dancing, singing and acting. I also enjoy reading about other people’s cultures. As traveling is too expensive, I surf the Internet and visit places around the world.
