Hello! Salem Aleikum! Zdravstvuite!
Menin atym Dinara... Ops! I guess I'm speaking Kazakh... My name is Dinara Karimova. I am from Kazakhstan, a wonderful country in the Central Asia. Currently I’m doing my master’s in higher education at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR.

The capital is Astana, but my favorite city is Almaty because there are high mountains all around the city with beautiful waterfalls and lakes. The official language is Kazakh. Since Kazakhstan used to be a part of the  Soviet Union, many people also speak Russian. There are over 120 different ethnic groups in our diverse country. The majority of them practice Islam and Orthodox Christianity.

Kazakhstan's Flag

Kazakhstan is called a "country of steppes and peaks beaks beyond the clouds", and that is true. The country's landscape varies enormously, from the mountains and glaciers of the Zaili Alatau (with the highest point of 7,010 m above sea level!) to steppe, semi-desert and desert. Kazakhstan is slightly less than 4 times the size of Texas, USA.
