These improvements, with an estimated total cost of $3.8 million, are made possible by the state funding from an Arkansas College Savings Bond Issue in the amount of $930,000 and special U.S. Department of Agriculture matching fund grants totaling $1,870,000. An additional $1 million in local matching funds is being solicited from industries, businesses and individuals who support the University's efforts to provide educational, research and extension programs in animal science and related areas. The private funds are needed to receive the full amount of federal matching funds.

Preliminary conceptual sketches of the Animal Science Activities Center and stables for a new equine unit are shown above and below, respectively. Final designs will be provided by an architect who will be selected through the state bidding process. These and the other new and renovated facilities will significantly strengthen the University's animal research capabilities.
