The Original Ninth Grade Helpers lived and worked at Woodland Junior High School in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Ninth Grade Helpers are not officially recognized by school authorities, but in the hearts of ninth graders worldwide, they are heroes. The Peer Helpers are the villains of this story.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the Ninth Grade Helpers? The ninth grade helpers are 22 of the most highly trained, intelligent, kind, and caring individuals in the world. They have decided to better the human race in their own little way.

How do they do that? The ninth grade helpers work alongside each other seeking out those ninth graders who seem uncomfortable in any phase of life, and they work with this student to ensure his well-being. Who knows? Someday one of these students who have been helped could invent a cure for cancer, solve the federal budget deficit, or win the Kentucky Derby as a jockey.

Who are the Peer Helpers? The Peer Helpers are the official group of helpers at Woodland Junior High, but they have failed to fulfill the standards which Helpers should live by. Examples of this include using their position to skip school, take joyrides to other schools, and playing silly games high among the trees. All this wasted valuable gas money that should have been used to help the students of Woodland Junior High. They even get their own shirts, who pays for this? Why the American taxpayer, of course, and how many taxpayers would be happy to know that they're paying for Cody Clark to get a t-shirt?

Why do the Ninth Grade Helpers care what the Peer Helpers do? Quite simply, because it's wrong. The Peer Helpers received their position under the assumption that they would work for the good of the whole student body. The Ninth Grade Helpers realize that they are not doing this, so the Ninth Grade Helpers have taken it upon themselves to right this terrible wrong.

Are the Ninth Grade Helpers sexually biased? In one word, no. But as expected, the Peer Helpers are. Last year, the Peer Helpers consisted of 20 females to only 8 males. Coincidence you say? The before, there were only 6 males in the Peer Helpers. Wouldn't this led you to believe that they would be less likely to help the males in the school? Wrong again, peer hurters (sorry, I mean helpers). The Ninth Grade Helpers consist of 12 males to 10 females.

Where can I find a Ninth Grade Helper? Wherever there is sadness, discomfort, wrongdoing, or any other negative event in WJHS, you can bet a Ninth Grade Helper will be there.
