Gerald retired May 1, 1999 as a
senior research associate with duties divided between the University of
Arkansas Arthropod
Museum and the Forest Entomology
research group. He received his B.S. in Entomology in
1962 and his M.S. in Entomology in 1964, both from the University of
Arkansas. He served as instructor of the Apiculture course for 24 years
and had responsibility for extension needs relating to beekeeping.
In September of 2004, we moved to Arkansas' newest (75th)county. After having lived in Benton County, Siloam Springs for 32 years, this was quite a change. Cleburne County is the number one turkey hunting county in the state and contains Greers Ferry Lake. Our city of Tumbling Shoals is located 7 miles Northeast of Heber Springs. We are out in the woods, next door to the grandkids and close to the lake shore.
One of our hobbies is Amateur Radio, Ham call for Gerald is N5KKD,and for Nan is N5TRY. Here is the Univ. of Ark. Amateur Radio Club link. The Ozark Wireless Society web page describes the activities of our present Ham club.
We are also interested in genealogy and are actively pursuing our family trees in North Carolina, Virginia or wherever they might be found. Nan and I are active RV travelers and plan to do more genealogy research during future trips. Check this link to see where we are presently located or where our travels have taken us recently.
