About Golden Key Golden Key is an internationally recognized academic honour society dedicated to excellence. Membership is by invitation only to those students who earn this outstanding academic distinction. The goals of the Society are to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to unite with faculty and administrators in developing and maintaining high standards of education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by means of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships and to promote scholastic achievement and voluntary service. Golden Key membership is offered to the top 15% of juniors and seniors in all fields of study at major colleges and universities worldwide. Qualifying for Golden Key membership acknowledges exceptional ability to perform at a high academic level. | |||

History Golden Key National Honor Society was founded in 1977 by James W. Lewis at Georgia State University. Golden Key has expanded to over 300 universities in seven countries since 1977. To recognize the increasingly worldwide presence of Golden Key, the Society changed its name to the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2000. The University of Arkansas Chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society was founded in 1986. The University of Arkansas Chapter of Golden Key is part of the Southern Region.
