Brief History

FarmHouse Fraternity was founded in 1905 at the University of Missouri. While attending a YMCA bible study, a group of young men studying agriculture decided to form a club, rent a house, and live together. Over the next few years those men faced many challenges that further strenghthened their bond. These are our Founding Fathers: D. Howard “Daddy” Doane (1883-1984), Robert F. Howard (1883-1963), Claude B. Hutchison (1885-1980), Henry H. Krusekopf (1886-1979), Earl W. “Farmer” Rusk (1885-1968), Henry P. Rusk (1884-1954), Melvin E. Sherwin (1881-1924). The fraternity nationalized in 1915, adopting a national constitution and by-laws, and held its first Conclave in 1917. Continuing to grow, FarmHouse expanded to many other universities nationwide. FarmHouse Fraternity became FarmHouse International Fraternity in 1974 with the chartering of a chapter in Alberta, Canada.

FarmHouse Principles

FarmHouse exists to build men in what it calls the four-fold building process: Intellectually, Socially/Morally, Physically, and Spiritually. By focusing on these traits, the Fraternity seeks to build "the whole man." Faith, Ambition, Reverence, Morality, Honesty, Obedience, Unity, Service, and Excellence guide the Men of FarmHouse in this pursuit.

FH at Arkansas

The chapter was founded by Kansas Alumni Henry J. Meenen. To this day, 414 men have been intiated into FarmHouse International Fraternity by the chapter.
