PEST ALERTS:

  •   Green June Beetles - are attacking ripening fruit

  • Codling moth adults - can begin laying eggs from 13 July through harvest

  • Oriental fruit moth - can be hatching from 29 June (Morrilton) or 14 July (NW Arkansas) until harvest

  • Grape Berry moth adults - can be laying eggs from now until early September

    • Spray all of vineyard or orchard if > 1% damaged clusters or fruit (indicates larvae are present)

  •  29 June - Flight of San Jose scale male flight in NW Arkansas from 29 June to 2 July.  Crawlers will start emerging for 4 to 5 weeks starting:

  • 26 June in southern Arkansas

  • 8 July in NW Arkansas  

  • See SJS below for sampling procedure for yellow crawlers

  • 1 June - Japanese beetle adults began emerging in NW Arkansas on 1 June.  Plants should be inspected for presence of feeding adults and protected if leaf damage exceeds your level of tolerance.

  • 20 May - Mites - start weekly inspection of susceptible apple and peach trees for European red mite or two-spotted spider mite buildup.
