PEST ALERTS:  

  •  

  • Plum curculio feeding/egg laying period (spray period) from 9 to 27 April and

  • 2nd generation attack from:

  • Hope = 25 May to early August

  • NW Arkansas = 8 June to early August

  • Codling moth hatch (spray period) is from 29 April to 23 May, some late CM trap catch indicates hatch after 27 May;

  • 3rd & 4th generation hatches overlap in:

  • Morrilton = 11 to 28 July

  • NW Arkansas starts 25 July

  • Oriental fruit moth 1st hatch (spray period) is from 19 April to 8 May,

  • 3rd & later generation hatches overlap in:

  • Hope from 20 June to harvest

  • NW Arkansas from 29 June to harvest (delayed due to cooler weather)

  • Grape Berry moth hatch (spray period) is from 25 April to 12 May,

  • 3rd & 4th generation hatches overlap in:

  • Morrilton from 26 June to harvest

  • NW Arkansas from 8 July to harvest

  • Grape Phylloxera crawlers are emerging from galls from 23 June on,

  • 3rd & later generation crawlers will be emerging and forming leaf galls on expanding leaves for the rest of the season.

  • San Jose scale hatch (spray period) is from 5 May to 28 May,

  • 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation males flew 9 June, early July and from 5 to 15 August (Fayetteville Arkansas)

  • 3rd generation crawlers emerged after 27 July (Hope) and 3 August (NW Arkansas)

  • 2nd generation males flew on 9 June hatch begins in:

  • Hope by 17 June and continue for several weeks

  • NW Arkansas by 30 June and continues for several weeks

  • Mites = early May on, make weekly 100 leaf inspections of susceptible apple and peach trees for mites (European red mite or two-spotted spider mite) (See How to Sample).
