Our Photograph Albums

Hard copy albums and digital files.
    I have always been very good at keeping photographic albums. I like to take pictures. I think I am fairly good at avoiding the obvious snapshots and getting interesting people-oriented pictures. I love to capture personality. I also enjoy the process of making albums, arranging pictures on the page, telling stories with pictures. I had an excellent system. Two prints of every image, one for archive (or sometimes special projects) and one for the albums. Negatives storied carefully in professional polyethylene holders, labeled meticulously, kept in a fireproof safe. Then digital photography happened and my system collapsed. Now my picture taking is erratic, and the images poor. After five or six years, I have not found a scheme that works. These web pages are an attempt at systematically storing our family photos in the digital age. It’s a bit of an experiment. For the sake of completeness, I list the hard copy albums that we have amassed over the years. As time permits, we will scan the highlights in. My son Christopher also posts his photographs on the web so his friends and family can see them (click here).
