After
Dad died, Mum and Bert’s relationship continued, unaltered. In 1976 they asked us how we would feel
about them getting married. We said
that we would be delighted. But they
didn’t. We were not surprised. They had a long history of living the way
they were and they were happy. And Mum
was still Dad’s wife.
