1946 Mum at Daphne's grave soon after the funeral
Mum had
two pregnancies before mine, both were girls, both were called “Daphne”. The first was stillborn and was buried in
what Mum called a “pauper’s grave”. The
second lived a short while and I have a death certificate for her. It is the second Daphne whose grave is shown
here. We frequently visited the grave
when I was very young.
1950 (guess) my father with unknown person
It was
fashionable in the fifties for photographers to stand at street corners of
places popular with holiday makers and tourists and photograph passers-by. They would then give them a card telling
them how to get pictures. Hazel has
similar pictures of her family.
