1963-1965 Scenes around Maidstone

We seldom take pictures of the places we see most frequently.  When I think of Maidstone, I think of the River Medway, the three breweries and the gas works that used to line the river, the Archbishop’s Palace and All Saint’s Church, and the stables that are now a coach museum.  And I think of the many beautiful small villages that surround the county town, that were popular destinations for bike rides.  I think of my homes, at 12 Hart Street and 86 Buckland Road, the garden shed in which I learned chemistry, and I think of the High Street and the statue of Queen Victoria.

In 1965 my father and mother had their silver wedding anniversary, and I bought them a set of chromium-plated egg cups and spoons.
