When Gary told me that the Art Department offered studio sessions for members of the community to do figure drawing I was delighted. I have been taking photographs of the figure for nearly thirty years, and maybe this would give me a new way of seeing and making pictures.  I went along, and had one of the most exciting evenings of my life.  Elen, who ran the evenings, and Ken, the faculty member in charge, could not have been more encouraging.  I have taken two figure drawing classes at the University of Arkansas, one from Robert Ross and one from Ken Stout.  A few years later I took over running the sessions, a marvellous experience because of the fantastic people I met.  Eventually, in 2003, I had a small exhibition of two pieces in the Kittrell Gallery of the University of Arkansas.
