Report on combined velocities of the Earth and Sun
through the galaxy.
Premise
To calculate the overall velocity of a person in
Fayetteville Arkansas relative to the center of the galaxy.
Data
Earth: radius = 6371km v = .46km (
@ equator)
Fayetteville latitude = 36o
N Earth orbit radius = 1 AU = 150Mkm
Earth orbital v= 29.8
km/s
Sun: Sol orbit r = 30,000 c><>
1 c><> = 9.46E12 km
Sol orbital v = 250km/s
I have chosen to calculate the velocities when all
directions are complementary (Fayetteville's rotational and orbital
trajectories are parallel with Sol's).
we = ve/re
= (.45 km /s)(cos 36o) / 6371km = 5.84E-5 rads/s
we-s = ve-s/re-s
= (29.8 km/s)/1AU = 1.98E-7 rads/s
ws-g = vs-g/rs-g
= (250km/s) / 30,000 c><> = 8.81E-16 rads/s
wtotal = 5.86E-5 rads/s
(wtotal)(r) = (5.86E-5 rads/s)(30,000
c><>) = 1660E13m/s
*which breaks the speed of light (ergo: incorrect)
