ABOUT THE CDC
|
The Campus Democracy Collective is a non-hierarchical organization working toward more participatory democracy on campus and in the community through education, organization and direct action. Our goal is to create a viable voice in the campus decision-making process for students, faculty, and staff. It is our priority to question the decisions and authority of campus administrators as well as local, state, and federal officials. We strive to keep elected and appointed officials accountable to the public they serve. The Collective emphasizes grassroots organizing and populist-based movements. We recognize that direct action is often a necessary means to raise awareness and attain a voice in the decision making process.
We have spent the past 3 years organizing students and working with other groups to fight tuition increases; end UA supported sweatshop abuses; for prison reform; for the university worker’s struggle to organize and receive a living wage; and against multi-national corporations such as Monsanto, Disney, and Wal-Mart, and other issues that bring about social and economic equality to all.
