Hydrogeology Field Trip-Day 1.  The HydroDays Field Trip will start at 8:00 am on Friday morning from various locations, all coming together at the Ponca low-water bridge (intersection of routes 43 and 74) about 9:30 am.  Depending on flow conditions, our Float Trip on Buffalo National River is planned to put in at Ponca or Steele Creek and float to Kyle’s Landing. We will camp at the group camp site at Erbie for the evening as U of A Hydrogeology Program guests.  On the river we will observe surface water/ground water interaction, karst processes, structural control of hydrogeology, and fluvial geomorphology.  At camp, you can choose between rappelling, caving, or socializing.   NOTE:  You must reserve canoes with a full deposit (~$50/ 2 people) by April 11, sent to Jo Ann Kvamme (address above), or provide your own canoes.  Because we will camp out, bring food for 2 days worth of camping/cooking out.  Questions?  Email Van at brahana@uark.edu

We’ll break camp about 8:00 am to get started on the technical part of our Hydrogeology Field Trip-Day 2 –Structural control of hydrogeology in the mantled karst of the Ozarks.   We’ll provide hands-on demonstrations at selected field locations showing state-of-the-science hydrologic research in northern Arkansas in the vicinity of the Buffalo National River. Our emphasis will be on structural control of ground water in carbonate rocks, and we have lots of new outcrops to facilitate visualization and understanding.  We should arrive back in Fayetteville about 6:00 pm., when you're free to chart your own plans for return home.  We'd love to have you join us!
