Mission Statement

The Arkansas Women in Statistics and Mathematics (AWSM, pronounced "awesome") was created in 2002 as a support and discussion group for female students and faculty involved in the mathematical sciences. Women are still a minority in the scientific community worldwide: among AWSM's chief goals is to foster, encourage and promote the participation of women in the hard sciences at the University of Arkansas.
