The one page rule applies to all students and graduates until approx. 4-5 years after graduation at which time you may have acquired enough relevant experience to utilize two pages. |
High school info may be included only before college graduation. Afterwards, only include your high school info if that school is private and well known, or has a strong alumni network. |
The one minute test: a potential employer must be able to scan your resume in one minute and be left with a positive impression. |
Education |
Your education section should be in reverse chronological order. |
GPA rule: If it is above a 3.0 list it, if not, don't. |
If only your journalism GPA is above 3.0, list it. |
Include major and minors. Even if you have not minored in an area but have taken several hours in it, list it as "focused studies in..." |
