Advertising Club Constitution

The purpose of the University of Arkansas Advertising Club is to enrich the knowledge of its members through experiences and fellowship beyond the classroom.

Ad Club officers include president, vice-president, treasurer and co-secretaries. The duties of the president are presiding over meetings, organizing events, making contacts and representing the club. The vice-president will assist the president with his/her duties and acquire the president's responsibilities in the event of his/her absence. The treasurer will direct the financial matters of the advertising club. It is the co-secretaries responsibility to take the minutes of each meeting and to notify members of meetings and events. The term of office is one academic year. In the event of an officer vacancy, the club will elect a new representative from either the executive members or the member body. An officer may be removed by a three-fourths vote of executive members.

Elections for Ad Club officers for the following academic year will be held the proceeding April. Officers will be nominated by member body. Only members enrolled in advertising/ public relation journalism sequence with good standing academic status who have participated in previous semester activities may run for office. Officer elections will be done by secret ballot. Members will be notified through email and flyers when the elections will take place.

Only students enrolled in the advertising / public relations sequence will be eligible for membership.

A one-time fee of $35.00 (to be paid to the treasurer) will be required for membership. The treasurer will be responsible for the collections and disbursement of funds. If a member fails to pay his/her dues, he/she will not be an official member of the advertising club.

The club advisor will authorize expenditures.

Advertising club meetings will be held bimonthly. The first meeting of the semester will take place the second month of the academic year. Members will be notified of meetings through emails, flyers and class announcements. Organizational decisions will be made by the executive members or the member body as a whole, depending on the urgency and importance of the matter. All members present are eligible to vote at meetings. A minimum of two officers and any number of members constitutes a quorum at meetings.

A three-fourths majority vote will be necessary to incorporate an amendment into the constitution.

The advertising club advisor will be appointed by the journalism department and will serve as a mentor for the club members.

The University of Arkansas is affiliated with the American Advertising Federation and the North West Arkansas Advertising Federation. The Ad Club assists these organizations at local events.
