Experience for Undergraduates!

| The Program: | Scholarships: | ||
| The 8-10 week summer program allows undergraduate geosciences (geology, earth science, physical geography) majors, who will be juniors or seniors in fall 2006, to carry out field and laboratory research in a chosen research area. | Participants will receive a scholarship of $4400. | ||

| Actual dates of participation are to be arranged with individual faculty mentors coincident with field research activities. Please refer to Project List to determine dates. | Dormitory and off-campus housing is available. Costs to be paid from scholarship. | ||

Field and laboratory research in:
Present your research results at a regional/national research conference. |
Those selected will be enrolled as students at the University of Arkansas and will receive 1 hour of research credit. All privileges normally enjoyed by UA students will be extended to summer REU students. | ||

| Undergraduate Geology and Earth Science majors who will be juniors or seniors in Fall 2006. | $330 in travel support will be given for each participant to attend a national or regional geosciences conference in the 2006 - 2007 academic year. | ||

| 17th consecutive year to sponsor NSF research experiences for undergraduates at the University of Arkansas. | The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas and the Ozark highlands of northern Arkansas. Abundant recreational opportunities exist in the Ozark National Forest, Lake Wedington Recreation Area, Beaver Lake, Buffalo National Scenic River, Devil's Den State Park, and Fayetteville. | ||
